Women in Mining – California Chapter (WIM-CA) and host, California State University San Bernardino invite you to participate in WIM-CA’s K-12 Teacher Education Conference that aims to provide teachers information and practical applications that will be of assistance in the teaching of earth science, and in particular, the important role minerals play in our daily lives. The conference will provide teachers with programs, literature, videos, tours, mineral samples, and will certify up to 16 hours of continuing education units. Workshops are divided into: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 levels.
Who Should Attend:
K-12 teachers seeking support in meeting California’s Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Earth Science. This conference offers valuable insights and hands-on resources for educators at all levels, from beginners to experienced science instructors. All classroom activities, lesson plans, materials, videos, and mine tour experiences are aligned with NGSS and designed for immediate classroom implementation.
Purpose:
This conference provides California educators with practical knowledge and instructional strategies to enhance Earth Science education. A special emphasis is placed on the critical role of minerals in daily life. All instructed activities incorporate an inclusive teaching lens, ensuring diverse learning needs and preferences are considered to improve student engagement and comprehension.
Continuing Education Credits:
Participants will receive a letter certifying up to 16 hours of continuing education. Please check with your district office to confirm eligibility for local requirements.
