JOIN US FOR A FUN-FILLED DAY OF LEARNING ABOUT CALIFORNIA’S IMPORTANT ROCKS AND MINERALS!
Women in Mining – California Chapter (WIM-CA) is organizing this conference to offer information about California’s rocks and minerals in a concentrated format that is usually not available. This conference is designed to provide lesson plans, hands-on workshops, classroom materials, and tours for K-12 teachers. Workshops are divided into: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 levels.
Who Should Attend: All K-12 teachers who need help meeting the State Standards in Earth Science. Subject matter is applicable and informative for all levels, from the novice to the science “expert.” All classroom activities, lesson plans, materials, videos, and mine tour experiences have been geared for specific standards and are ready for use in the classroom.
Purpose: To provide California teachers with information and practical applications that will be of assistance in the teaching of earth science, and in particular, the important role minerals play in our daily lives.
Continuing Education Credits: A letter certifying up to 16 hours of continuing education will be provided. Check with your district office to be sure this meets your local requirements.
