WIM-CA California Science Education Conference
Volunteer to join WIM-CA and California Geological Survey (CGS) at the California Science Education (CASE) Conference to lead presentations and activities for over 100 teachers. At least 5 WIM volunteers are needed to help with activities, give out mineral samples, and help (wo)man the CGS booth. WIM-CA member leading this activity, Joyce Pulliam-Fitzgerald says “the last time Cindy and I did this workshop every seat was filled and we had teachers sitting on the floor down the center aisleway, back of the room and down both sides. I am sure we presented to more than 120 teachers and it was very well received!” Activities will include a presentation on “California Minerals We Use in Our Everyday Lives,” “Hardness Made Easy,” “Toothpaste with a Twist,” “Mineral Identification,” and “Cooking Mining (if time permits).” Please contact the Joyce to express your interest in participating!
