Lizeth Diaz has a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. She has been an active member of the mining industry for the last 2 years through her involvement in organizations such as Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) and Women in Mining (WIM)
Lizeth currently works at Caterpillar as part of their Mining Technical Development Program. Through the program, she has worked with the Mining Technology and Continuous Improvement / Global Accounts group. She is currently involved in a variety of projects with customers around the world helping mining operations reduce their costs and improve productivity.
She is an avid learner and often seeks opportunities to bring groups with diverse backgrounds together to achieve solutions. She is very passionate about bringing diversity into the mining industry and using the experience of those around her to continue to grow and develop. Lizeth is serving her second term as Secretary for WIM USA.
The Women In Mining National Organization
Formed in 1981, the Women In Mining National Organization was created to enhance communication and coordination among chapters, assist formation of new chapters and support chapter educational programs.
An annual meeting is conducted each spring on a rotational chapter basis.
