Emily King is the CEO of Global Venture Consulting, a natural resources consulting firm specializing in bringing technology solutions to emerging and frontier markets with a focus on Afghanistan, the Middle East, North Africa, and South America. Emily is a geologist specializing in building and leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve clients’ high-priority objectives.
Since 2013, Ms. King has led GV’s work with clients and partners to accelerate innovation and incorporate disruptive and technologies into the collection and interpretation of geologic data. Ms. King works with firms at every stage of development, from exploration to mine closure to provide a realistic picture of what is happening on the ground, at a level of detail and resolution that gives clients the confidence needed for strategic, operational, and managerial decisions and gives visibility to strategic opportunities that otherwise may be overlooked or undervalued. Prior to founding GV, Emily led mineral exploration programs in Afghanistan for the U.S. Department of Defense, overseeing tenders of large copper and gold exploration targets, small-scale processing initiatives, and exploration throughout Afghanistan.
Emily has a degree in Geology and Government and Legal Studies from Bowdoin College, and holds leadership positions in multiple professional and industry organizations, including the Advisory Board member of the Afghanistan Mining Think Tank and National Representative for Women in Mining USA, contributor for Geology for Investors, and she is a member of the Board of Directors for VVC Exploration.
The Women In Mining National Organization
Formed in 1981, the Women In Mining National Organization was created to enhance communication and coordination among chapters, assist formation of new chapters and support chapter educational programs.
An annual meeting is conducted each spring on a rotational chapter basis.
