Anita Bertisen has been active member of the international mining industry for 17+ years. She is a Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado and has a Master degree in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master degree in Applied Earth Science from the University of Technology in Delft, The Netherlands.
Anita has held a wide variety of positions both international as well as in the USA. Anita currently works at Newmont mining as Program Manager in the newly formed Operational Technology and Innovation Team. In addition to this role Anita is also the Chair of Newmont’s Women and Allies Business Resource Group, responsible for supporting the implementation of Newmont’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy. Previously at Newmont Anita was Principal Advisor in Asset Management and Chief of Staff for the COO. Anita has worked at Anglo Gold Ashanti business improvement international operations, Tetra Tech’s mining study group, URS’ contract mining business unit, and Rio Tinto’s Asset Utilization & Technology Group.
Her key strengths are her leadership, language (Dutch, English, German, Spanish, and French), and interpersonal skills and her ability to integrate and simplify complex, cross-functional projects into achievable solutions. Her experience is in the areas of mine and strategic planning, business development, optimizing asset utilization, labor optimization, work management, systems and process implementation and change management.
The Women In Mining National Organization
Formed in 1981, the Women In Mining National Organization was created to enhance communication and coordination among chapters, assist formation of new chapters and support chapter educational programs.
An annual meeting is conducted each spring on a rotational chapter basis.
